The cross dates to between 1900 and 1920. It is made of onyx and brass with a small pearl on it, the necklace length is 18", the cross is 2 x 3". It would be worn when mourning the loss of a loved one along with other mourning garb. Good condition overall especially the marquis necklace. There are a couple chips on the back of the cross and the cross moves slightly on the chain.
